Marietta’s Marriage is a two-volume novel written by William Edward Norris and published in 1897. The story follows the life of Marietta, a young woman who is forced to marry a man she does not love in order to save her family from financial ruin. Marietta’s husband, Lord Beverley, is a wealthy and powerful man who is used to getting his way. Despite Marietta’s initial reluctance, she eventually falls in love with her husband and begins to enjoy her life as a member of the aristocracy. However, their happiness is threatened by the arrival of Lord Beverley’s former lover, Lady Ursula, who is determined to win him back. Marietta must fight to save her marriage and protect her newfound happiness. The novel explores themes of love, marriage, social class, and the struggle for independence in a society that values conformity above all else. With its vivid characters and engaging plot, Marietta’s Marriage remains a classic of Victorian literature. In Two Volumes. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
