Il presente studio intende analizzare il modello di sviluppo e di affermazione internazionale dell’economia brasiliana, basato sull’espansione delle esportazioni di risorse naturali. Si intende valutare il contributo del recente ciclo di aumento dei prezzi delle materie prime in Brasile all’aumento delle esportazioni e in che misura ciò sia stato accompagnato dall’apprezzamento della moneta e dalla perdita di competitività e capacità esportatrice in altri settori in cui il Brasile stava affermandosi. Viene effettuata un’analisi Shift-Share sulle esportazioni brasiliane nel periodo 2000-2012, con l’obiettivo di identificare quali variabili hanno contribuito ai guadagni del commercio internazionale del Paese e quali sono le loro implicazioni per il futuro.
