Die vorliegende Ausgabe für Lyzeen und verwandte Mädchen­ bildungsanstalten schließt sich eng an das 'Lehrbuch der Chemie für höhere Lehranstalten' von Rudolf Winderlich. Die vorgenommenen Abänderungen finden ihre Begründung in den sich nicht ganz deckenden Lehrplänen der Knaben- und Mädchenanstalten, in der Hauptsache aber in ihrer verschiedenen Einstellung. Es erwies sich aus diesem Grunde als zweckmäßig, die Darstellung technischer Vorgänge, für die im Gegensatz zu den Knaben bei den Mädchen wenig Interesse vorhanden ist, zu kürzen, andererseits aber Dinge, die das häusliche und individuell­ persönliche Leben der Frau betreffen, hervorzuheben. So wurden einige Abschnitte hinzugefügt, andere ergänzt. Für die vielen mit der Obersekundareife in das Leben hinaustretenden Mädchen soll das letzte hinzugesetzte Kapitel üb~r den Aufbau der Materie einen Abschluß bilden.
