Der Einsatz von insektizidresistenten natürlichen Feinden kann in vielen Anbausystemen, in denen die chemische Bekämpfung von Schädlingen gängige Praxis ist, das Auftreten von Sekundärschädlingen und das Wiederauftreten von Schädlingen verhindern. Im Feld hat die Temperatur einen entscheidenden Einfluss auf die Wirksamkeit von Insektiziden. Sie ist ein entscheidender Umweltfaktor, der als Kontroll- und tödlicher Faktor wirkt. Der Temperaturkoeffizient eines jeden Insektizids kann berechnet werden, um die Temperatur-Toxizitäts-Beziehung zu ermitteln. Insektizide mit einem positiven Temperaturkoeffizienten werden mit steigender Temperatur toxischer, während solche mit einem negativen Temperaturkoeffizienten bei niedrigeren Temperaturen toxischer werden.
