Cet ouvrage a été rédigé par de jeunes chercheurs renommés qui ont cherché à identifier les choix financiers des micro-commerçants dans les pays en développement et à comprendre pourquoi certains facteurs influencent les décisions de ces commerçants. Il s’est particulièrement intéressé aux commerçants ghanéens de la capitale Accra et a cherché à identifier les différentes raisons financières qui influencent le choix d’une institution financière plutôt qu’une autre par un commerçant. Parmi les différentes pratiques d’épargne et les données démographiques révélées par cette étude, les auteurs ont également identifié quatre facteurs principaux qui influencent le choix d’une institution financière par les commerçants dans les pays en développement comme le Ghana. Ces facteurs sont la proximité de l’institution financière, l’accessibilité aux prêts, aux autres produits et services, ainsi que la bonne réputation ou la confiance accordée à l’institution.
