Cette étude a été menée dans le but de sensibiliser les femmes en âge de procréer afin de réduire la mortalité maternelle et infantile en Inde. Selon l’OMS (2010), 18 % de la charge mondiale des décès maternels est concentrée en Inde. Cette étude examine l’autonomie des femmes, mesurée à travers certaines décisions, ainsi que son lien avec les soins de maternité sans risque dans différents États indiens. L’étude décrit l’autonomie et les soins de maternité sans risque sous différents aspects. Elle examine également l’évolution dans le temps en tenant compte de la relation entre l’autonomie et les soins de maternité sans risque. Les résultats indiquent que le niveau d’implication des femmes dans la prise de décision ainsi que dans les soins de maternité sans risque varie selon les régions du pays. Les résultats indiquent également qu’un décalage temporel positif est observé tant pour l’autonomie que pour les soins de maternité sans risque.
