Es wurden Untersuchungen durchgeführt, um die relative Resistenz von 30 verschiedenen Sorten gegen den Reiskäfer zu bewerten. Sitophilus oryzae L. und verschiedene 30 Sorten gegen den Khapra-Käfer, Trogoderma granarium Everts. Unter einheitlichen Bedingungen von Temperatur (27±1 0 C) und relativer Feuchtigkeit (75±2%) für S. oryzae und (35±1%) und relativer Feuchtigkeit (70±2%) für T. granarium. Die Sorten umfassten 10 Mischlinge, 8 Hybriden und 12 Inzuchtlinien für S. oryzae und 17 Mischlinge und 13 Hybriden für T. granarium. Die Bewertung erfolgte nach der Standardmethode ohne Auswahl der Nachkommenschaft. Zwanzig gesunde Körner jeder Sorte, die dreimal vervielfältigt wurden, wurden mit 3 Paaren von frisch geschlüpften adulten Tieren (0-12 Stunden alt) befallen. Die Bewertung der Sorten erfolgte auf der Grundlage des Auftretens der erwachsenen Tiere nach 60 Tagen Befall. Andere Parameter wie prozentualer Gewichtsverlust und prozentuale Fraßschäden wurden bei der Bewertung der Sortenresistenz berücksichtigt. Die natürlichen Bestandteile der Pflanzen haben ein enormes Potenzial, das als Alternative zu synthetischen Pestiziden genutzt werden sollte.
