La Grande Diga del Rinascimento Etiope (GERD) è uno dei più recenti progetti idroelettrici in fase di realizzazione in Etiopia. Una volta completato il progetto, l’Etiopia avrà il controllo totale sul Nilo Azzurro, con conseguente riduzione dell’approvvigionamento idrico proveniente da tale fonte per il Sudan e l’Egitto. La costruzione di questa nuova diga non solo influirà sull’ambiente del bacino del Nilo, ma anche sulla sua popolazione, con il rischio di provocare conflitti etnici tra i numerosi gruppi presenti. Pertanto, questo libro propone un quadro di riferimento che possa fungere da meccanismo per alleviare le tensioni tra i gruppi etnici nel bacino del Nilo, tensioni che potrebbero degenerare in conflitti più gravi.
