L’avant-propos nous rappelle que le développement de la filière hydrogène vert (notamment solaire) => Cogénération ou Heat and Power for consumers restera pour toujours la meilleure pour la planète et, dans ce contexte, que la combustion humide avec recyclage de l’eau de combustion constitue un cycle thermodynamique optimal. La combustion humide avec recyclage de l’eau de combustion peut se définir comme étant un cycle de combustion semi-fermé où la vapeur d’eau issue de la combustion est séparée des autres produits de combustion avant leur rejet. Seule de l’eau est donc recyclée. Cette séparation s’opère dans un récupérateur-condenseur et lors du passage dans un échangeur de masse et de chaleur, ultime, dit pompe à vapeur d’eau où un dernier échange s’opère entre gaz sortants et air atmosphérique entrant. Ainsi il s’agit d’un cycle semi fermé qui, avec le récupérateur condenseur associé, offre la possibilité de récupérer le pouvoir calorifique supérieure du combustible (chaleur sensible et latente de condensation de la vapeur d’eau, en bénéficiant d’une température de rosée des produits de combustion augmentée par le recyclage d’eau dans la chambre de combustion). Un diagramme dit DHC, ou diagramme hygrométrique de combustion, a été développé pour anticiper aisément les performances énergétiques d’un tel cycle. L’élimination des panaches d’eau est également anticipée grâce à ce même DHC. Dans le cas des aéronefs, de véhicules lourds ou légers, un condenseur seul peut suffire, le dernier échangeur dit Pompe à vapeur d’eau n’étant plus nécessaire, tandis qu’inversement, la perspective de récupération maximale de chaleur ou d’eau liquide est susceptible de gros intérêts notamment dans les régions froides comme arides. Dans tous les cas, le recyclage d’eau diminue la température adiabatique de combustion et contrarie notablement la formation d’oxydes d’azote, pouvant même l’éliminer. Dans ce contexte, sont présentés les DHC du méthane, de l’hydrogène et, en avant-première, celui de l’ammoniac (cette dernière molécule pouvant ici ou là, être vue comme une alternative décarbonée préférée à l’hydrogène).
