La Costa d’Avorio è uno degli otto paesi membri dell’Unione Economica e Monetaria dell’Africa Occidentale (UEMOA). Ex colonia francese, è stata governata da Félix Houphouët-Boigny dal 1960 al 1993. Dopo oltre un secolo di convivenza pacifica tra stranieri e autoctoni, la Costa d’Avorio sta ora vivendo un’esperienza di xenofobia, in particolare in occasione delle elezioni presidenziali. Questo volume spiega come l’ivoirité sia diventata un’ideologia dominante in Costa d’Avorio. I politici hanno ormai trasformato la loro visione dell’ivoirité politica in ivoirité culturale.
