Lieber Leser! Das vorliegende Buch Kreuz und Quer beinhaltet 120 Knobeleien und mathematische Denksportaufgaben. Obwohl durch das Buch ma­ thematisches VersHindnis gefordert mid das Interesse an rechnerisch zu losenden Problemen geweckt werden solI, ist es kein Lehrbuch. 1m besten FaIle konnte man die Probleme und deren Losungen als Ange­ wandte Mathematik bezeichnen, die einzig dazu dienen solI, die Kon­ zentrationstahigkeit und das logische Denkvermogen zu fOrdern oder zu entfachen. Wenn dies durch die Aufgaben erreicht wurde, so hat das Buch seinen Sinn nicht verfehlt. Falls das eine oder andere Problem noch nicht gelost werden kann, sollte man zu anderen Aufgaben iibergehen. Hat man sich jedoch an­ ders entschieden, darf die Losung im Losungsteil verfolgt werden. Ich habe diesen Losungsteil absichtlich sehr ausfiihrlich gestaltet, damit der Rater den Weg zur richtigen Losung erkennen und nachvollziehen kann. Viele Zusammenstellungen von lehrreichen und fesselnden Aufgaben verlieren dadurch ihre Wirkung, daB der gescheiterte Riit­ selloser mit nicht genau zu rekonstruierenden Losungsteilen in seinem Spiirsinn und seiner Findigkeit gehemmt oder nicht weiterentwickelt wird.
