Treibhauseffekt und Ozonloch bedrohen nicht nur unsere Er­ nahrung und Gesundheit. Sie sind zugleich Symbole fUr das h6chst sensible Gleichgewicht tiber unseren Kopfen, entstanden tiber Jahrmilliarden, ins Wanken gebracht durch Menschen in einem Zeitraum, der erdgeschichtlich nicht mehr als ein Wimpernschlag ist. Das nachzuvollziehen, ist ein Ziel dieses Buches. Ein anderes: Aufzuzeigen, warum der Homo sapiens die Gefahr unterschatzt und Erkenntnissen nieht Taten folgen laBt. Dies ist zugleich das groSe Dilemma einer Umweltpolitik, die kiinftig Weltpolitik sein muS, will sie den Planeten fUr Menschen erhalten.
