Keltische symbolen zijn wellicht de meest bekende erfenis van het volk dat zich duizenden jaren geleden heeft gevestigd in West-Europa. Deze symbolen werden gevormd met een ingewikkeld en sierlijk knoopwerk, en werden aanvankelijk gebruikt als decoratie op gebruiksvoorwerpen, schilden en helmen. Door de eeuwen heen werden ze echter steeds talrijker, verfijnder, en meer betekenisvol. In de 21ste eeuw zijn Keltische symbolen bovendien meer populair dan ooit.In dit boek bespreken we een aantal bekende (en minder bekende) geometrische figuren zoals de verschillende Keltische knopen, de triskel en uiteraard ook het Keltisch kruis. Eveneens besteden we aandacht aan de symboliek die de Kelten toeschreven aan een aantal dieren, bomen, planten, voorwerpen en (mythologische) relikwieën. Ook heraldische symbolen van de Keltische naties zoals Ierland, Schotland, Wales en Bretagne komen aan bod.
