Er was eens een dorp, niet ver van Antwerpen gelegen, waarvan de inwoners ’Geitenkoppen’ werden genoemd. Ooit was het de thuishaven van een mythische reus die bekend stond als de ’Lange Wapper’, maar de geschiedenis van dit ’Geitendorp’ gaat nog veel verder terug in de tijd. Zelfs helemaal terug tot bij de Kelten, een volk van stammen dat eeuwenlang een groot deel van West-Europa heeft bewoond.Anno 21ste eeuw staat het district Wilrijk nog steeds bekend als het Geitendorp, en wordt de Lange Wapper nog altijd ge?erd in de vijfjaarlijkse Geitestoet. Waar komt die associatie met geiten en reuzen vandaan? Wie waren de Kelten en hadden ook zij een affiniteit met geiten? Welke rol speelde het dier in andere invloedrijke culturen? En wat is de rol van Sint-Bavo in dit alles? Dit boek tracht een antwoord te bieden op deze en tal van andere vragen over de geschiedenis en folklore van Wilrijk. Deze publicatie is vooral bedoeld als een beknopte gids, die werd gepubliceerd ter ere van 1250 jaar Wilrijk in 2015.
