W półpustynnym regionie Brazylii często spotyka się wody o wysokim stężeniu soli i zmiennym składzie kationowym. W związku z tym celem niniejszej pracy była ocena wpływu nawadniania wodą o różnym stopniu zasolenia i charakterze kationowym w połączeniu z dawkami azotu na wzrost, fizjologię i produkcję słonecznika odmiany BRS 324. Badanie przeprowadzono w doniczkach przystosowanych jako lizymetry, w warunkach polowych, w Centrum Technologii i Zasobów Naturalnych Federalnego Uniwersytetu w Campina Grande, w okresie od listopada 2014 r. do stycznia 2015 r. Zastosowano układ bloków losowych w schemacie czynnikowym 5 x 5, z trzema powtórzeniami, przy czym zastosowano pięć kombinacji zasolenia i kationowości wody - S (S1 - kontrola; S2 - NaCl; S3 - CaCl2; S4 - KCl i S5 - NaCl+CaCl2+MgCl2) oraz pięć dawek azotu (N1 - 50; N2 - 75; N3 - 100; N4 - 125 i N5 - 150 mg N kg-1 gleby). Do nawadniania użyto wody o przewodności elektrycznej - CEa wynoszącej 0,5 dS m-1 dla kontroli (S1) i 5,0 dS m-1 dla pozostałych zabiegów (S2; S3; S4 i S5).
