In diesem Buch wird der Versuch unternommen, die in der Jungendforschung dominanten Konzepte der Transition und des Moratoriums zu einem theoretischen Entwurf zu verknüpfen, der eine differentielle Betrachtung jugendlicher Entwicklungswege erlaubt. Dabei wird grundsätzlich davon ausgegangen, dass sich 'Jugendtypen' aus der subjektiven Perspektive von Jugendlichen rekonstruieren und nach einer Gegenwarts- bzw. Zukunftsorientierung unterschieden lassen. Aus der Kombination ergeben sich vier Entwicklungswege, deren Gestalt beschrieben und für die theoretischen Rahmenbedingungen hergeleitet werden.
