Il mondo sta affrontando un’epidemia crescente di problemi ambientali globali. I moderni mezzi di comunicazione ci hanno avvicinato a ogni parte del mondo; siamo costretti a riconoscere che tutti gli abitanti della Terra condividono un ambiente comune e i problemi ad esso correlati. Con l’avvento della rivoluzione industriale nel XVIII secolo, il crescente utilizzo di combustibili fossili ha provocato, durante la combustione, enormi emissioni di anidride carbonica nell’atmosfera. La crescente domanda energetica domestica e industriale, unita al progresso tecnologico, ha rafforzato la nostra capacità di alterare l’ambiente in cui viviamo. Il presente studio mira a calcolare l’impronta di carbonio del consumo energetico nei centri di raccolta del latte Nestlé in Pakistan. Le Linee guida dell’IPCC per gli inventari nazionali dei gas a effetto serra del 2006 forniscono un supporto nei vari calcoli effettuati per la stima dell’impronta di carbonio. Si stima che il consumo energetico dei centri di raccolta del latte in tutto il Pakistan generi un totale di 5.337,076 tonnellate di emissioni di anidride carbonica. L’obiettivo comune è la neutralità carbonica, che, sebbene sia piuttosto difficile da raggiungere, non è impossibile.
