Nonostante il numero considerevole di incendi che si verificano ogni anno, la ricerca sugli impatti fisici degli incendi sulle autostrade è stata poco studiata. Questa ricerca esamina i danni fisici storici sulle autostrade causati dagli incendi. Per raggiungere i nostri obiettivi di ricerca, questa ricerca suggerisce un modo per classificare i danni fisici causati da questi incendi alle strade utilizzando statistiche accuratamente selezionate raccolte dal Dipartimento dei trasporti dell’Oregon (ODOT). Di conseguenza, il set di dati di questo studio è stato classificato per rappresentare gli impatti fisici, stradali e del traffico. Le caratteristiche fisiche delle autostrade studiate durante gli incendi del Labor Day dell’Oregon del 2020 (Riverside, Beachie Creek, Lionshead, Holiday Farm e Archie Creek) hanno indicato che circa il 56% delle autostrade sono state colpite.
