Le tecnologie eoliche installate sui tetti hanno guadagnato popolarità con l’emergere della sostenibilità per ridurre il consumo energetico negli edifici. Tuttavia, le prestazioni di questi dispositivi diminuiscono significativamente quando la velocità del vento esterno è inadeguata. Questa ricerca cerca di alleviare questo problema proponendo l’ottimizzazione del design del tetto che ospita il dispositivo eolico. Lo studio ha esaminato l’influenza delle diverse configurazioni del tetto sulle prestazioni di due delle più rinomate tecnologie eoliche, ovvero le torri eoliche e le turbine eoliche installate sul tetto di edifici residenziali. Per lo studio sono stati proposti cinque progetti di tetto di una stanza, il cui microclima e macroclima sono stati valutati utilizzando una combinazione di CFD ed esperimenti in galleria del vento. La ricerca ha concluso che il design del tetto può effettivamente essere utilizzato come strumento per manipolare i flussi d’aria e migliorare le prestazioni delle tecnologie eoliche installate sul tetto.
