Lo studio fisiologico, biochimico, citologico e anatomico è stato condotto a partire dal 6°, 9° e 12° giorno delle piantine di cece coltivate sotto stress da metalli pesanti. Sotto lo stress da arsenico la morfofisiologia, la perossidazione lipidica e il fenolo totale sono stati drasticamente influenzati, mentre il fenolo libero e la SOD hanno mostrato valori più elevati nelle piantine trattate con il piombo. Anomalie radicali sono state riscontrate nei trattamenti con metalli pesanti AS, Pb e Hg e anomalie citologiche per quanto riguarda i ponti cromosomici sono state osservate la formazione del fuso e la separazione delle fibre cromatidiche in metafase e telofase in qualche modo disturbate a causa della tossicità dei metalli pesanti.
