I bambini soldato combattono in molti conflitti armati in tutto il mondo, ma l’Africa è particolarmente colpita da questo problema. Questo lavoro affronta la questione dei bambini soldato africani, che sono diventati un importante strumento di guerra nella guerra moderna. Nel contesto di questo lavoro, vengono definiti bambini soldato tutti i ragazzi e le ragazze di età inferiore ai 18 anni che partecipano attivamente ai combattimenti o che svolgono una serie di compiti diversi. I bambini soldato esistono da quando esistono le guerre, ma dopo la fine del conflitto Est-Ovest, i processi di conflitto sono cambiati e il numero di bambini soldato attivamente coinvolti è aumentato drasticamente. Il forte aumento dei bambini soldato è dovuto all’incremento dei conflitti interni. La Sierra Leone, dove la brama dei diamanti ha causato una guerra decennale, e l’Uganda, dove gli interessi politici impediscono la fine del conflitto, sono gli esempi di paesi in cui lo sfruttamento dei bambini soldato ha raggiunto livelli elevati.
