W szczególności badania koncentrują się na powiązaniach między wielkością gospodarstw rolnych a hodowlą bydła w gospodarstwach domowych w różnych stanach Indii. W latach 1991-92 do 2002-03, które charakteryzowały się znacznym spadkiem wzrostu gospodarczego w rolnictwie, gwałtownym wzrostem liczby osób bezrolnych i nierównościami w posiadaniu gruntów oraz ogólnym kryzysem w sektorze rolnym, odnotowano również gwałtowny spadek hodowli zwierząt gospodarskich i spadek wzrostu hodowli drobiu.
