Foi realizada uma experiência de campo para estudar a heterose em termos de rendimento e qualidade no quiabo (Abelmoschus esculentus (L.) Moench). O material experimental compreendeu 8 progenitores, 28 híbridos produzidos através de meio dialelo e MH-64 como controlo padrão. Os dados foram obtidos para dezassete características, incluindo o rendimento de vagens e seus componentes. Os cruzamentos VRO 6 × Arka Abhay, VRO 6 × AOL 10-8 e Parbhani Kranti × Arka Abhay mostraram heterose significativa e desejável para o rendimento de vagens por planta em relação à verificação padrão. Entre os 8 progenitores, dois progenitores, a saber, AOL 10-8 e Arka Abhay, foram observados como bons combinadores gerais.
