Die Keramikindustrie ist heute einer der wichtigsten Sektoren zur Schaffung von Arbeitsplätzen und Wohlstand in der Welt. Um die Industrie in Afrika wiederzubeleben, müssen erhebliche Forschungs- und Entwicklungsinvestitionen in lokale Mineralverarbeitungstechniken getätigt werden. Dieses Buch soll Informationen liefern und Herstellungsprozesse, Werkzeuge und lokal beschaffte Rohstoffe für die Produktion erfassen. Der Inhalt des Buches ist wie folgt. Kapitel eins enthält eine kurze Einführung und Definition von Keramik und Töpferwaren. Kapitel zwei behandelt die grundlegenden keramischen Rohstoffe, die bei der Herstellung verwendet werden. Kapitel drei, Produktionsprozesse, Maschinen und Sicherheitsmaßnahmen. In Kapitel vier werden die Verfahren zur Herstellung von Formen beschrieben und in Kapitel fünf die Klassifizierung von Glasuren und die Temperaturdynamik im Brennofenbetrieb.
