Het hergebruik van afvalwater buitenshuis kan het drinkwaterverbruik van een huishouden met 30-50% verminderen, met een aantal voorzorgsmaatregelen om ervoor te zorgen dat het veilig en milieuvriendelijk is. De komst van hergebruik van afvalwater verandert de milieusector in een sector die een waardevolle productveilige en betrouwbare watervoorziening voor de hele bevolking genereert.
