THIS HANDBOOK WAS INSPIRED BY THE HOLY-SPIRIT TO HELP BELIEVERS TO BECOME OVERCOMERS IN AREAS THAT THEY MAY STRUGGLE IN. THE WORLD IS FULL OF DISTRACTIONS AND SOMETIMES IT BECOMES DIFFICULT TO CONSENTRATE ON THE PERFECT WILL OF GOD FOR OUR LIFE. WHEN I WAS ORDAINED A PASTOR, PRIOR TO RECEIVING MY CALLING I WAS INVOVLED IN A LOT OF ACTIVITY AT MY CHURCH, AT MY JOB AND SEEKING A POSITION IN SPORTS AS A LIFE TIME CAREER. I WAS TORN BETWEEN WHAT I WANTED TO DO AND WHAT I NEEDED TO DO.I HAD NEVER FASTED ON MY OWN BEFORE, BUT WHEN I FASTED WITH THE CHURCH IT WAS VERY EFFECTIVE IN HELPING ME HEAR CLEARLY FROM GOD. I REALIZED THAT IN ORDER FOR THIS FAST TO BE EFFECTIVE I HAD TO GLEAN AN UNDERSTANDING OF FASTING AND WHAT I WOULD FAST FROM. I REALIZED THAT I HAD TO ISOLATE MYSELF FROM EVERYTHING THAT I COULD THAT WAS COMMON TO ME. I PREPARED MYSELF BY GETTING RID OF EVERYTHING THAT WOULD DISTRACT ME FROM CONSENTRATING ON HEARING FROM GOD. (MY T.V. COMPUTERS) ANYTHING THAT WAS NOT BIBLE ORIENTED. I WAS ALMOST READY; I JUST NEEDED TO SURROUND MYSELF WITH SOME BIBLE AIDS LIKE STUDY GUIDES AND DIFFERENT BIBLES AND LOTS OF GOSPEL MUSIC. I BOUGHT A PHONE WITH AN ANSWERING MACHINE SO I COULD SCREEN OUT CALLS THAT WAS NOT IMPORTANT SO I COULD STAY CONSECRATED. THIS WAS AN IMPORTANT TIME FOR ME BECAUSE I WAS AT A CROSS ROAD AND I WANTED TO DO WHAT GOD WANTED ME TO DO. THE FAST WAS VERY EFFECTIVE, I LOST WEIGHT WITHOUT TRYING AND WAS ABLE TO QUIET LIFES NOISY DISTRACTIONS AND FOCUS ON THE FAITHFUL CALM STILL VOICE OF MY LORD AND SAVIOUR. I COULD NOT BELIEVE THAT I WAS NOT STARVING OR HAVING HUNGER HEAD ACHES. AS LONG AS I PRAYED AND READ MY BIBLE I HAD STRENGTH. I WAS ONLY WEAK WHEN I WAS AWAY FROM HOME AND HAD TO DEAL WITH PEOPLE. THE BIBLE SAYS THAT LIFE IS LIKE A VAPOR, IT IS HERE THEN IT IS GONE. THE BIBLE ALSO SAYS THAT THE STEPPS OF A GOOD MAN IS ORDERED BY THE LORD AND THAT HE WOULD NEVER LEAVE US OR FORSAKE US.
