L’obiettivo di questa ricerca è stato quello di sviluppare un sistema di coltivazione per il girasole, utilizzando appropriate tecnologie di raccolta dell’acqua in situ e di fertilizzazione organica. È stato condotto un esperimento presso il Centro di Scienze e Tecnologie Agroalimentari dell’Università Federale di Campina Grande, utilizzando un disegno a blocchi randomizzato in uno schema fattoriale 4 x 5, con quattro sistemi di coltivazione: trincea, solco, bacini, corrispondenti a tecniche di raccolta dell’acqua, e un controllo, riferito al sistema di impianto convenzionale, e cinque dosi di letame bovino (0; 2,5; 5; 7,5 e 10 L m-2 ), formando venti trattamenti con sei repliche. Sono state effettuate valutazioni degli aspetti morfofisiologici e produttivi. È emerso che la tecnica di raccolta dell’acqua in solchi e 10 L m-2 di concime hanno aumentato la capacità di conservazione dell’umidità del suolo, che si è riflessa sulle variabili fisiologiche, di crescita e di produzione. Le fonti di variazione studiate hanno mostrato un comportamento dipendente dall’interazione per la fotosintesi e la crescita, rispondendo alle quantità di concime in modo lineare nei solchi e nelle trincee e in modo quadratico nei bacini e nell’impianto convenzionale.
