Arbeitplatzknappheit, Arbeitslosigkeit und Anstieg von Qualifikationsstandards verlangen eine genauere und gut kalkulierte berufliche Lebensplanung. Dies muss schon in der Schulzeit anfangen. Gerade bei der Vielfalt an Bildungswegen sind wir nicht nur gezwungen schon früh Entscheidungen in Bezug auf die Berufswahl zu treffen, sondern wir sehen uns auch der Gefahr ausgesetzt auf unwiderrufliche Weise den falschen Weg für uns zu wählen. Welche berufsbildende Maßnahme ist das Richtige für mich, wenn ich in einem bestimmten Berufsfeld arbeiten möchte? Was sind die Qualifikationsvoraussetzungen? Aber noch wichtiger ist die Frage, welcher Bildungsweg für meine Ziele die beste Option ist mir das gewünschte Fachwissen anzueignen? Das sind nur einige von vielen Fragen, die bei dem Thema Berufsausbildung aufkommen. In dieser Hausarbeit liegt der Fokus jedoch nur auf eine Art der Berufsausbildung, und zwar dem des dualen Bildungssystems mit der Perspektive auf geschlechtsspezifische Unterschiede, die auf dem Ausbildungsmarkt zu verzeichnen sind. Zunächst wird in dieser Arbeit in Form eines Überblicks das deutsche Schulsystem dargestellt und dann auf die duale Berufsausbildung eingegangen, indem zuerst der geschichtliche Hintergrund erläutert und anschließend der Aufbau bzw. die Konstitution dieses Bildungszweigs aufgezeigt wird. Im darauf folgenden Schritt wird auf Grundlage empirischer Daten die Verteilung von Frauen und Männern auf dem Ausbildungsmarkt untersucht und dies dann in einem Zwischenfazit festgehalten. Im letzten Schritt wird auf Basis verschiedener Ansätze versucht die herausgebildeten Ergebnisse der Untersuchung zu erklären.
