Die Fortschritte in der Materialwissenschaft haben die rasche Entwicklung der Weltwirtschaft vorangetrieben. Intelligente Polymermaterialien mit Sensorsystemen oder Photoresistmaterialien, die die Entwicklung integrierter Halbleiterschaltungen von der Mikro- bis zur Nanoebene fördern, sind die vielversprechendsten Entwicklungsrichtungen in diesem Bereich. Die photochromen Moleküle werden in das Polymernetzwerk eingebracht, um intelligente Polymerelastomere mit photokontrollierter Verformungsfunktion oder Photoresistmaterialien mit photokontrollierter Depolymerisationsleistung herzustellen, was eine neue Richtung für die Herstellung von Funktionsmaterialien eröffnet. Die Frage, wie die Lichtempfindlichkeit dieser Materialien verbessert werden kann, wie die Lichtreaktion beschleunigt werden kann und wie die physikalisch-chemischen Eigenschaften verbessert werden können, so dass sie im täglichen Leben eingesetzt werden können, muss jedoch noch gelöst werden. Hexaryldiimidazol (HABI) könnte als photochromer molekularer Schalter mit schneller photochemischer Reaktion in Polymere integriert und zur Herstellung von funktionellen Polymermaterialien und DUV-Fotoresistmaterialien verwendet werden, was eine Schlüsselidee zur Lösung wichtiger wissenschaftlicher Probleme in diesem Bereich darstellt.
