L’obiettivo principale di questo studio è stato quello di valutare la resistenza delle piante ornamentali in ambienti contaminati da Pb (piombo) e di determinare se possono essere utilizzate come rimedi al piombo nell’ambiente. A tal fine, è stata condotta un’indagine sul potenziale di risanamento delle specie Tradescantia pallida (erba di pezza viola), Ophiopongo jaburani (barba di serpente), Sansevieria trifasciata (spada di San Giorgio) e Cuphea gracilis (erica o falsa erica) nell’assorbire/assorbire il piombo da terreni contaminati artificialmente. Durante l’esperimento sono state scattate fotografie settimanali per monitorare e confrontare lo sviluppo delle piante. Dopo 20 settimane di contaminazione, le piante sono state preparate per le analisi chimiche. I risultati mostrano che tutte le specie studiate hanno il potenziale di adsorbire il Pb sulle loro radici. Valutando visivamente la crescita delle specie, confrontando gli individui non contaminati e quelli contaminati, non è stato possibile notare alcun segno di intossicazione, in quanto hanno avuto una crescita 'normale'.
