Firaq Gorakhpuri’s major achievement is to adopt and promote certain important trends and attitudes of English poetry. He is the first eminent poet of Urdu who adapted the English poetic aesthetics in the form of Urdu. Apart from this, he has emphasized the possibilities of Urdu ghazal in the modern era and the continuation of the tradition of Urdu poetry. This book is a collection of few articles regarding critical analyis of Firaq’s life and work./فراق کا بڑا کارنامہ انگریزی شاعری کے بعض اہم رجحانات اور رویوں کو اپنانا اور فروغ دینا ہے۔ انگریزی شعری جمالیات کو اردو کے قالب میں ڈھالنے والے وہ اردو کے اولین ممتاز شاعر ہیں۔ اس کے علاوہ انہوں نے دورِ جدید میں اردو غزل کے امکانات اور اردو شاعری کی روایت کے تسلسل پر زور دیا ہے۔ فراق کا نظریہ تھا کہ تسلسل ادب کا آئین ہے۔ اور شاعری آواز بازگشت کا ایک ایسا سلسلہ ہے جو ارتقاء کے منازل طے کرتا جاتا ہے۔ ہر 'حال' کو اپنے 'ماضی' سے آگے بھی ہونا چاہئے اور ارفع بھی۔ ادب کا ارتقاء سماج کے ارتقاء کا عکس بھی ہے اور نقیب بھی۔ کسی دور کا ادب اگر اپنے دور کے نقش دکھاتا ہے تو اس سے آگے بڑھنے کی بھی بشارت دیتا ہے۔
