L’utilizzo della vinaccia attraverso la fertirrigazione è una delle pratiche più importanti, in quanto il suo uso razionale permette di fertirrigare i terreni agricoli, dando così una corretta destinazione a questo prodotto che prima veniva gettato nelle acque superficiali, causando l’inquinamento di queste e anche delle falde acquifere attraverso la percolazione. Non appena il rifiuto è stato correttamente smaltito, sono iniziati gli studi che hanno permesso di enumerare i benefici che esso apporta alla coltivazione della canna da zucchero. Lo scopo di questo studio è stato quello di analizzare l’applicazione dei rifiuti liquidi della produzione di zucchero-alcool (vinassa) alle colture di canna da zucchero. È stato adottato un dosaggio, un volume, un ciclo di applicazione, una manutenzione agricola e un monitoraggio continuo standard, che tenesse conto delle variazioni climatiche e geologiche che la coltura subisce nella regione. Si è concluso che l’uso agricolo della vinaccia e i suoi benefici per il suolo sono diversi, sia da un punto di vista agronomico che economico e sociale. L’uso razionale di questo residuo nelle piantagioni di canna da zucchero favorisce un aumento della produttività nei terreni poveri e nelle regioni più aride.
