Le terme 'genre' désigne 'les caractéristiques socialement construites des femmes et des hommes - telles que les normes, les rôles et les relations entre les groupes de femmes et d’hommes'.L’intégration de la dimension de genre est une approche de l’élaboration des politiques qui tient compte des intérêts et des préoccupations des femmes et des hommes.Le concept d’intégration de la dimension de genre a été introduit pour la première fois lors de la Conférence mondiale sur les femmes de Nairobi (1985). Il a été établi en tant que stratégie dans la politique internationale d’égalité des sexes par le biais de la plate-forme d’action de Pékin, adoptée lors de la quatrième conférence mondiale des Nations unies sur les femmes à Pékin (1995) et adoptée par la suite comme outil de promotion de l’égalité des sexes. ~ Conseil de l’EuropeL’égalité entre les sexes signifie l’égalité des droits, des responsabilités et des chances des femmes et des hommes, des filles et des garçons.L’équité entre les sexes est le processus qui consiste à être juste envers les femmes et les hommes en fonction de leurs besoins respectifs.
