L’objectif de cette étude de cas qualitative était de mieux comprendre les facteurs qui ont permis aux participantes à l’étude de surmonter la violence domestique. L’étude a été menée à New York, aux États-Unis. Les résultats ont montré que les survivantes de violence domestique ont toléré plus longtemps leur situation de maltraitance parce qu’elles ne disposaient pas des connaissances et des compétences nécessaires pour quitter leurs agresseurs de manière sûre et définitive.
