Le phtalate de diéthyle (DEP) est utilisé comme plastifiant, comme base de détergent, dans les aérosols, comme liant de parfum et comme lotion après-rasage. Il est connu pour être un contaminant de l’eau douce et de l’écosystème marin. On a constaté que le DEP affectait l’hématologie, la biochimie et les tissus des poissons. Ces altérations peuvent avoir des effets à long terme sur les poissons qui sont continuellement exposés à de faibles doses de DEP dans l’environnement aquatique.
