Dojrzewanie jajników dzikich i hodowlanych pomarańczowych krabów błotnych Scylla olivacea zostało zarejestrowane poprzez obserwacje morfologiczne i badania histologiczne w celu określenia statusu biologii rozrodczej tego gatunku. W rzeczywistości jest to pierwsze doniesienie dotyczące badania etapów dojrzewania jajników S. olivacea na podstawie badania składu kwasów tłuszczowych. Na podstawie cech morfologicznych, histologicznych i kwasów tłuszczowych dojrzewanie jajników S. olivacea podzielono na cztery etapy: etap 1, etap 2, etap 3 i etap 4. W miarę dojrzewania jajników od etapu 1 do etapu 4 zwiększała się również ich objętość, a stężenie kwasów tłuszczowych znacznie wzrosło. W niniejszym raporcie wykazano, że etapy dojrzewania jajników S. olivacea są ściśle związane z ich wyglądem morfologicznym (np. kolorem i kształtem jajników), rozwojem komórkowym (np. wielkością oocytów i GSI) oraz składem kwasów tłuszczowych (np. stężeniem kwasów tłuszczowych). Klasyfikacja etapów dojrzewania jajników S. olivacea dostarcza ważnych informacji dla dalszych badań nad biologią rozrodu tego gatunku.
