As nanopartículas derivadas de bases de schiff têm uma grande variedade de aplicações. Estas partículas têm propriedades antitumorais, catalisadoras, antivirais, antibacterianas, aditivo estabilizador para tintas anti-incrustantes e estudos de fotocatálise. A importância da fotocatálise foi notada para a purificação da água, desinfeção e geração de hidrogénio para o desenvolvimento sustentável da indústria moderna. Os óxidos metálicos são explorados como a fotocatálise prática com grande expetativa num futuro próximo. Este livro centra-se na síntese de bases de schiff a partir do tereftalaldeído e da o-fenilenodiamina e na síntese de complexos metálicos a partir deste ligando. Síntese de nanopartículas de óxido metálico a partir destes complexos. Foram efectuados estudos de fotocatálise utilizando ZnONPs e CuONPs como precursores. Do estudo do fotocatalisador conclui-se que as ZnONPs são boas fotocatalisadoras devido ao seu elevado intervalo de banda. As CuONPs não foram capazes de mostrar qualquer atividade de fotocatálise devido ao seu pequeno intervalo de banda.
