Essays of Resistance, compiled by Otis D. Alexander, presents a carefully selected collection of philosophical reflections, sermons, poems, and plays. The volume is structured into eleven  chapters: Sermons of Resistance, Poetry of Resistance, Plays of Resistance, and Essays of Resistance. Contributors include librarians, ordained ministers, musicians, playwrights, educators, college professors, and dog trainers from diverse locations, including Florida, Maryland, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Virginia, Morocco, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Representing various religious traditions, including Buddhism, Christianity, and Islam, these contributors bring international experience and academic expertise. They consistently demonstrate principled opposition to mistreatment in governmental, leadership, and interpersonal contexts. Collectively, the contributors advocate for peace and articulate an urgent desire for its attainment.Essays of Resistance features substantive contributions from experienced individuals, including Blair Eugene Alexander, Sr., Anide Charles, Chessmann Coby, Janet Darby, Gregory Gardner, Edouard de Lagarde, Keith R. Knatt, II, Danielo Laine, Frances Laveau, Christen Dane Marks, Julius E. McCullough, Joshua Moore, Tony Muhammad, Khallid Muhammad, Arthur Petersen, Cipriani A. Phillip, Jr., Nicholas Phillip, Alvin Pondexter, Greg Saunders, and André Titus, Jr. These contributors engage with contemporary social and philosophical issues.The Compiler: Otis D. Alexander is recognized as a distinguished librarian, educator, journalist,  researcher, and artist. He has directed academic, public, and prison libraries in Washington, DC; Virginia; Florida; Indiana; and Texas, as well as internationally in the U.S. Virgin Islands, the Republic of Liberia, and Dominica. He has also conducted Applied Music workshops in Camagüey and Havana, Cuba, at the Instituto Superior de Arte. Alexander was commissioned to create original choreography set to the work of the renowned poet and activist Audre Lorde, which was performed at the Brooklyn Academy of Music. His paintings have been exhibited in Washington, DC, Virginia, and in Cairo, Luxor, and Aswan, Egypt.
