La prise en considération des conceptions des élèves détient de plus en plus d’importance dans l’enseignement des sciences de la vie et de la terre pour l’opportunité qu’elle offre à déceler les éventuels obstacles à l’apprentissage. L’unité de l’écologie est parmi les importants et difficiles thèmes à enseigner en SVT en raison de la confusion, l’ambiguïté de ses concepts et la rigueur méthodologique nécessaire pour les aborder. Parmi ces concepts, le milieu naturel, enseigné au secondaire collégial et au lycée, est une notion polysémique, polydisciplinaire, présente des interférences d’interprétations scientifiques et sociales et constitue, par conséquent, un sujet de fausses conceptions chez les élèves.La présente étude s’intéresse, par le biais d’un questionnaire, à l’émergence et à l’analyse des conceptions des apprenants du tronc commun scientifique, option français vis-à-vis de la notion de milieu naturel.Les résultats de cette recherche révèlent, chez ces apprenants, la persistance de difficultés de conceptualisation du concept de milieu naturel, aussi bien au niveau de sa signification, sa structure, sa dynamique et son équilibre.
