Este livro aborda o atraso em projectos de reforço por paredes de cisalhamento e contraventamento de aço. Estuda a importância das causas e dos efeitos dos atrasos neste tipo de projectos. Quarenta e quatro causas foram identificadas e classificadas por fonte em nove grupos. Onze efeitos negativos dos atrasos foram conhecidos nesta investigação. O estudo concluiu que o atraso no financiamento e no pagamento dos trabalhos concluídos pelo proprietário é a causa mais importante de atraso. Com base na classificação das categorias de causas de atraso, as causas de atraso mais importantes estão relacionadas com a mão de obra e o equipamento. Foi demonstrado que os efeitos negativos mais importantes dos atrasos são os litígios entre as partes.
