A aquicultura tem garantido cada vez mais a presença do peixe na mesa do consumidor. Enquanto muitos estoques pesqueiros naturais já se encontram em seu limite máximo de exploração, a produção de pescado pela aquicultura tem aumentado muito nos últimos anos. Por este motivo foi desenvolvido a pesquisa, 'Estudos para identificar o potencial e os obstáculos para a implantação de um empreendimento aquícola de criação de tilápia em tanques-rede na Paraíba'. Para os propósitos do Estágio foram coletadas e analisadas as informações e dados coletados no empreendimento de criação de tilápia em tanques-rede dos pescadores da Associação dos Piscicultores e Aquicultores do Município de Araçagi, no Centro de Pesquisa em Aquicultura Rodolpho von Lhering - Pentecoste/CE e Estações de Piscicultura de Itaporanga - Itaporanga/PB e Estevão de Queiróz - Caicó/RN.
