Prendendo come esempio l’India rurale, questo studio si chiede: quale potenziale ha il video comunitario come strumento di sviluppo? L’obiettivo è trovare risposte utili dal punto di vista pratico. Essendo uno dei pochi studi in questo campo, va oltre i progetti di ricerca che si concentrano solo sul prodotto finale. Il video comunitario è più di un semplice mezzo di comunicazione: è un processo di narrazione, in cui ogni fase, dall’ideazione alla diffusione finale, ha un potenziale di sviluppo. La presente ricerca analizza quindi l’argomento da entrambe le prospettive. Rispondendo alle esigenze pratiche del lavoro di sviluppo, include sia l’analisi narrativa teorica che la ricerca etnografica sul campo. Oggetto di questo studio sono le organizzazioni di sviluppo che realizzano film insieme a gruppi. Essenzialmente, lo sviluppo è innescato dall’empowerment. Pertanto, l’obiettivo principale di questa ricerca è quello di scoprire se il video comunitario favorisce o addirittura crea un senso di empowerment.
