In hoc libro, Wallis disputat contra doctrinam geometricam Thomae Hobbes, philosophi Angli, qui geometriam non nisi experientia et sensu corporeo explicare volebat. Wallis, contra Hobbes, argumentat geometriam esse scientiam abstractam, quae non dependet a sensu corporis, sed a ratione et intellectu. Libellus constat ex duabus partibus: prima pars continet expositionem doctrinae Hobbesianae et Wallis refutationem eius; secunda pars est tractatus de geometria, in quo Wallis demonstrationes geometricas tradit et exempla geometrica exhibet.
