Das Phänomen der Dispersion schränkt die Leistung von Glasfaserkommunikationsverbindungen häufig ein, da sich die optischen Impulse auf ihrem Weg durch die Faser verbreitern. Diese verbreiterten Impulse können sich am Ausgang überlagern, was zu Intersymbolischer Interferenz (ISI) führt. Das Phänomen der Dispersion ist ein großes Hindernis bei der Erzielung hoher Datenraten und längerer Verbindungen in faseroptischen Kommunikationssystemen, weshalb die Kompensation der Dispersion zu einem wichtigen Thema geworden ist. Eine der Methoden zur Reduzierung der ISI im Signal ist die Entzerrung des empfangenen Signals. In diesem Buch wurden Untersuchungen zur adaptiven Entzerrung durchgeführt, um die durch Dispersion in optischen Verbindungen verursachte ISI zu reduzieren. Es werden Simulationen mit einem elektronischen Equalizer durchgeführt, um die Dispersion in optischen Verbindungen zu überwachen und zu unterdrücken.
