En el siglo XXI, la enseñanza de la música en Colombia es aún una experiencia educativa precaria, se enseña lo que la demanda social impone a través de las instituciones educativas del estado que rigen el sistema, de tal forma, que la música está incluida en el currículum en el área de artística en la escuela, pero pocas veces se orienta, porque el auge de la 'sociedad de aprendizaje' contemporánea que busca democratizar a través de competencias, cada vez oculta más las áreas de humanidades para lograr el engranaje en el sistema económico de la 'sociedad de consumo' de esta segunda modernidad. Los maestros de música deben encontrar alternativas, estrategias pedagógicas y didácticas para fundamentar, aplicar en forma sistemática y fortalecer ésta área en la escuela, pues han estado huérfanos de programas del estado colombiano, que garanticen los procesos formativos en la música de los niños y jóvenes. Es desde este escenario que se gesta esta iniciativa didáctica, que propende porque los estudiantes realicen aprendizajes significativos y al finalizar su ciclo escolar avancen a niveles superiores en una de las disciplinas más representativas del espíritu humano: la música.
