Darüber hinaus stammen mehr als 40 % der Getreideproduktion aus Trockengebieten. Indien wird bis 2030 308,5 Millionen Tonnen Getreide benötigen, um die Bevölkerung zu ernähren. Daher gewinnt die Bewirtschaftung von Trockengebieten zunehmend an Bedeutung.
