Os nanomateriais estão na vanguarda do campo em rápido desenvolvimento da nanotecnologia. As suas propriedades únicas dependentes do tamanho tornam esses materiais superiores e indispensáveis em muitas áreas da atividade humana. Os nanoadsorventes de óxido de cobre são atraentes para o tratamento de águas residuais, pois os nanoadsorventes podem remover rapidamente os contaminantes das águas residuais. No presente trabalho, nanopartículas (NPs) de óxido cúprico (CuO) foram preparadas adotando o método de precipitação aquosa usando sulfato de cobre 5-hidratado como precursor e NaOH como agente estabilizador. Isso permite a produção em grande escala de NPs de CuO, que são utilizadas para a remoção do corante azul de metileno (MB). As NPs de CuO foram caracterizadas para o estudo da sua estrutura e composição a partir de FTIR, que revela a estrutura monoclínica de fase única. A morfologia da superfície destas NPs foi realizada utilizando microscopia eletrónica de varrimento (SEM). Além disso, o efeito de parâmetros de otimização, tais como tempo, concentração, dosagem e temperatura, também foi examinado. A técnica espectrofotométrica foi utilizada para avaliar a remoção de MB em solução aquosa por NPs.
