Nel tentativo di fornire un approccio empirico sul motivo per cui gli strumenti didattici rimangono preziosi nell’insegnamento e nell’apprendimento, questo lavoro ha studiato l’efficacia dei materiali didattici nell’insegnamento e nell’apprendimento dell’economia nelle scuole secondarie pubbliche di Onitsha. Sono state formulate quattro domande di ricerca e un’ipotesi. Sono stati selezionati 100 intervistati, composti da 10 insegnanti di economia permanenti e 90 studenti di SS2 (classi scientifiche), attraverso una tecnica di campionamento casuale semplice. Per raccogliere i dati rilevanti sono stati utilizzati un questionario e un test elaborato dagli insegnanti. Per analizzare le domande di ricerca è stata utilizzata la percentuale semplice, mentre per verificare l’ipotesi nulla è stato utilizzato il test T. Lo studio ha rivelato che esiste una differenza significativa positiva tra il rendimento medio degli studenti che hanno utilizzato materiali didattici e il rendimento medio degli studenti che non hanno utilizzato materiali didattici. È stato raccomandato che tutti gli attori del sistema educativo si impegnino incessantemente per incoraggiare e sostenere l’acquisto, la produzione, lo stoccaggio e l’utilizzo di supporti didattici nell’insegnamento e nell’apprendimento dell’economia nelle nostre scuole secondarie.
