Foi realizada uma experiência para descobrir o 'Efeito do potássio no crescimento, rendimento e caraterísticas de qualidade das uvas cv. Muscat'. O fertilizante potássico foi aplicado no solo e em pulverização foliar sob a forma de sulfato de potássio (SOP) a 0, 200, 400, 600, 800, 1000 gramas/vinha, e também 600 gramas + 0,5% de pulverização foliar, 600 gramas + 1% de pulverização foliar na ervilha e na fase de mármore para determinar a resposta do potássio nas uvas. É necessário desenvolver uma gestão bem calibrada dos nutrientes do solo na vinha para maximizar o rendimento e a qualidade das uvas. A aplicação de potássio na dose de 600 gramas, juntamente com uma pulverização foliar de 0,5%, apresenta os melhores resultados em termos de índice de área foliar, clorofila total, açúcares totais, açúcares redutores, açúcares não redutores, teor de sumo, sólidos solúveis totais, pH do sumo e menor nível de acidez. Apresenta o rendimento máximo de (27,37 t/ha) e também aumenta o tempo de conservação, retendo os bagos de uva no engaço durante cerca de 9 dias após a colheita.
