Diversidade bacteriana e contagem total de bactérias viáveis das diferentes amostras de solo de diferentes localidades no estado de Cartum (três regiões: AL-Gaeli, Sharq EL-Neel e Omdurman Norte e oito sub-regiões: Kunger, Gary, Wadi Gedad na região de AL-Gaeli; Soba, AL-Elafoona e Um Dawan Ban na região de Sharq EL-Neel; Karary e Khor Omer na região de Omdurman North) foram realizadas. As características físicas e químicas do solo (pH, EC, SP, catiões solúveis: Na, K, Ca, Mg e anião P, carbono orgânico, azoto total e textura do solo em cada uma das diferentes sub-regiões estudadas foram medidas. As amostras de solo revelam um total de mais de 15 espécies diferentes de bactérias, das quais 2 não foram identificadas. As 11 espécies estão classificadas no género Bacillus e as restantes 2 espécies estão classificadas no género Micrococcus. As espécies Actinomyces spp. e Streptomyces spp. do solo foram os microrganismos mais abundantes identificados nos três habitats (regiões), o que pode influenciar diretamente os processos de decomposição e o ciclo de nutrientes no solo.
